Adult Services
MedCare’s rehabilitation program offers services
to help patients gain independence after physical and cognitive limitations
caused by orthopedic or neurological problems. The patient’s treatment goals are
coordinated with the patient, family, therapist and patient’s doctor to meet the
individual’s specific needs. Types of treatment include:
The physical therapists at MedCare provide
services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent
or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or
disease. They restore, maintain, and promote overall fitness and health. Their
patients include accident victims and individuals with disabling conditions such
as low-back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures, head injuries, and
cerebral palsy.
Occupational therapists at MedCare help patients
improve their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and working
environments. They help individuals develop, recover or maintain daily living
and work skills, not only improving their basic motor functions and reasoning
abilities, but also to compensate for permanent loss of function. MedCare’s
occupational therapists help clients have independent, productive and satisfying
lives.
MedCare’s speech pathologists assess, identify,
treat, and help prevent speech, language, cognitive, communication, voice,
swallowing, and fluency disorders. These difficulties may have been acquired
from stroke, brain injury, cancer, or disability.
Social workers at MedCare assist individuals to
restore or enhance their capacity for social functioning, while creating
societal conditions favorable to their goals. Social workers help our patients
overcome some of life’s most difficult challenges: physical illness, educational
problems and disability. They help prevent crises and counsel individuals and
families to cope more effectively with the stresses of everyday life.
MedCare’s counselors will work with the patient
and family to assist with personal, family, educational, mental health, career
decisions and problems.
